Winifred Powers, 95, passed away Wednesday evening, September 22, 2021, in Vernon.

Winifred Avis Greening was born November 11, 1925 in Crowell, Texas to Henry and Vanita Vaught Greening. She married Jack Charles Powers on November 7, 1942. She retired from Vernon State Hospital where she was a nurse for many years. She was a longtime resident of Crowell and a member of Crowell First Christian Church, Ladies Missionary Society, and the Rebecca Lodge.

Survivors include her son, Anthony D. Powers, and wife Beth, of Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico; 4 granddaughters, Carol Ann Powers Lively, Stephanie Powers, Aimee Powers, Ashlee Powers King, and husband Noel; great grandchildren, Trae Hendrix, Cole Bailey Hendrix, and Byrdi King; sister, JoAnn Daniel of Truscott; and brother, John Allen Greening of Ruidoso, New Mexico; nieces and nephews, Jackie Daniel, Jimmie Daniel, Ann Greening, Bernadette Greening, and Brenda Greening. Winifred was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Powers; her son, David Powers; parents, Henry and Vanita; twin brother, Wayne Greening; sister, Willie Dell Greening; and nephews, Johnnie Daniel and Michael Greening.
