Virginia "Honey" Hembree passed away Thursday morning, January 12, 2023 at her home in Crowell. A funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2023 at First Assembly of God in Crowell with Rev. Scott Asiatico officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Virginia May Holmes was born August 9, 1938 in Charleston, Missouri to Dave and Nellie (Smith) Holmes. She married Elbert Hembree on November 24, 1956 in Plainview, Texas. She was a homemaker, raised two children, worked at Raines Grocery Store for numerous years, and Plainview School Cafeteria.

Survivors include her husband, Elbert Hembree of Crowell; son Nathan Hembree, and wife Patricia, of Amarillo; daughter Shelly Staggs, and husband Scot, of Wichita Falls, Texas; 2 brothers, David Holmes of Grand Prairie, and Elmo Holmes of Lindale, Texas; 1 sister, Vickie Branscum of Plainview; 5 grandchildren; and the highlight of her life, 12 great grandchildren: Kayleen, Kamrie, Samuel, Kayden, Astyn, Kason, Kyndell, Chevee, Hadassah, Kye, Rosalyn, and Ezekiel.
