Rickey Eavenson, 73, of Crowell, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 11, 2021 in Wichita Falls. A funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 15 th at First Baptist Church in Crowell. Interment will follow at Crowell Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-7, Sunday evening at Smith Funeral Home.
Rickey Joe Eavenson was born March 11, 1948 in Crowell to Beattie Joe and Anna Laura Payne Eavenson. He was a resident of Crowell most of his life, and a graduate of Crowell High School. He attended West Texas State University before being drafted into the US Army, where he served in the Vietnam Conflict. He also attended El Centro College in Dallas. Rickey and Merida Taylor were married in Crowell on June 7, 1969 and together they raised two daughters. Rickey was a farmer and rancher and was retired from the Farm Services Agency. He was a Baptist, and was a member of the Crowell Masonic Lodge, member of the Chapter Council, and recently received the Golden Trowel Award. Rickey was a past Crowell ISD school board member, served on FSA boards, and was a Lions Club member.
Survivors include his wife, Merida Eavenson of Crowell; 2 daughters, Shelia Collier and Angie Burkett, and husband Bradley, of Crowell; grandchildren, Jett Moore, Cheyenne Collier, Jacie Borchardt, Taylor Burkett and Kirsten Burkett; and one great grandchild, Claire Brownlee, all of Crowell; and 2 sisters, Rea Gina Mints of Paducah and Rosanna Edwards of Crowell.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Crowell Masonic Lodge.
