Richard "Dick" Pieper passed away Sunday, May 15 ^th , 2022 in Crowell, Texas. A graveside service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 19 ^th at the Circle Bar Ranch Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, at Smith Funeral Home in Crowell.

Richard Dale Pieper was born May 20, 1939 in Portsmouth, Ohio to John Dale and Mary Ruth Bechtel Pieper. He was raised in Henley, Ohio and started training horses at the age of 13 at the Pieper Farm. He served in the U.S. Navy, later coming to Crowell where he was a horse trainer at the Circle Bar Ranch.  He was a member of the Gilliland Baptist Church.

Survivors include a grandson, Zak Pieper; 4 nieces and 1 nephew; many great nieces and nephews; and several step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Bradney Pieper; and 2 brothers, Johnny Bryan and James Milton Pieper.
