Darlene Wheeler passed away Sunday morning, December 10, 2023 in Amarillo, Texas. A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Crowell. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Interment will follow at Crowell Cemetery.

Patsy Darlene Smith was born April 29, 1945 in Goree, Texas to Lonzo and Lottie B. (Gray) Smith. She married Joe Wheeler on February 2, 1962 in Crowell. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cleaning and quilting. She loved the Lord and playing piano and singing at Bethel Church, where she was a member.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Joe Wheeler of Crowell; daughter, Tammy Loveless of Quanah; grandchildren: Temperance Foster of Paul's Valley Oklahoma, Jon Watson and Shara of Crowell, Joe Watson and Kayla of Crowell; great grandchildren: Madison, Charleigh, Emily, Khyson, Khyleigh, Keziah, Iayne, Braxton, Grayson, and Jase.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bobbie Lee, Geneva and Mary; brother, James and a twin brother at birth.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Crowell Cemetery Association.
