Ola Faye Carpenter Fish, 96, died Thursday, October 4, 2018, in Lubbock, Texas.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2018, graveside, at Crowell Cemetery, under direction of Womack Manard Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday evening and Friday morning at the Funeral Home.

Ola Faye was born November 14, 1921, in Okalla, Texas, to Murphy and Sarah Augusta (Bell) Carpenter. She was the oldest of 9 children, and graduated from Roaring Springs in 1940.  After high school graduation, she worked with Dr. Pate in Paducah.  She married Hughes Haley Fish on May 29, 1942 in Los Angeles, California.  Hughes was in the Navy during World War II, and the couple lived in Amarillo, Dallas, Denver, Colorado, and Lubbock, Texas.  She had been a resident of Lubbock since 1989.  She was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock, where she and her husband were Sunday Greeters.  Ola Faye was a homemaker, seamstress, needleworker, and an artist of oil paintings.  She was also a quilter with the LCU Associates in Lubbock.  Her mission was making zucchini bread and delivering loaves to anyone she felt could use encouragement.

Ola Faye is survived by 4 children, Olaine Petty of Corpus Christi, Jane Baker of Lubbock, Allen Fish of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and Nancy Glasmann of Westminster, Colorado; 3 sisters, Marie Judd of Arlington, Texas, Betty Mullins of Arlington, Texas, Kay Spiller of Palo Pinto, Texas; 1 brother, Lewis Carpenter, of Lubbock; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
