Myrtie Vecera, 89, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Granbury, Texas. A funeral service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Crowell with Rev. Terry Tamplen officiating. Interment will follow at Crowell Cemetery under direction of Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Myrtie Ellen Bartley was born May 2, 1933, in Slaton, Texas to C.S. Bartley and Mattie Sue Johnson Bartley. Myrtie married Travis Vecera on November 10, 1950, and together they raised 4 daughters. She was a homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church of Crowell where she served as the church treasurer and taught Sunday School; and served as the treasurer for Relay for Life. She also held all offices as a member of the United Methodist Women. She worked with her husband, in their business, as the bookkeeper for Foard County Lumber Company. Myrtie was a member of the 42 Club and Women's Service League.

Survivors include her 4 daughters: Donna Vecera, and Rhonda Jan Irby, both of Granbury, Texas, Anita Beth Manley of Wichita Falls, and Hedi Lyn Bucy of Sanger, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis; 1 granddaughter, Michelle Alese Manley; 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Crowell Cemetery Association, First United Methodist Church, or your favorite charity.
