Loy Keith Hopkins, 78, passed away Friday, February 2, 2020 at his home in Crowell. A funeral service is planned for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Crowell with Rev. Chris McLain officiating. Interment will follow at Crowell Cemetery under direction of Smith Funeral Home of Crowell. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Loy was born October 21, 1941 in Foard County, Texas, to Dumas and Zelma (Booker) Hopkins. He was a graduate of Crowell High School. He was married to Nelda Chappell on June 25, 1965 in Crowell. Loy spent some time in the National Guard, but was a retired home builder and farmer. In his younger years, Loy was a member of the Church of Christ, but later became a member of the First Baptist Church. He was an avid supporter of 4-H, Little League, and enjoyed various fundraising activities. He also liked to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his wife, Nelda, of the home; 2 daughters, Patti McConnell of Providence, Kentucky, and Karen Baylor of Fort Worth, Texas; 2 brothers, Bobbie Hopkins and Leslie Hopkins both of Crowell; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Crowell, 1122 Main St., Crowell, Texas 79227.
