Julia Torres passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at her home in Crowell, surrounded by the place she loved. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Crowell.

Julia was born March 17, 1938, in Gonzales, Texas, to Augustine Lozano Sr. and Anita Perez Lozano. She married the love of her life, Gilbert Torres, on April 8, 1958, in San Antonio. Together, they built a life centered on family, raising three children, and creating a home for them.

Julia was well known for her many years as a cook at the Dairy Bar. Family meant a lot to her. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and rarely missed a ballgame, school program, or special moment. She proudly followed the Crowell Wildcats and was one of their biggest fans. She especially enjoyed traveling to Roscoe to attend Aiden's games.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of Pease River Cowboy Church.

She is survived by her son, Gilbert Torres Jr. and wife CJ of Crowell; daughters, Rachel Casey and husband Jimmy of Quanah, and Sarah Torres and wife Christy Arden of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Brittany Leija, Anthony Torres, and Amanda Casey; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Urquizo, Anita Hinkel, Olga Herrera, Alice Alvarado, and Rachel Ramos; brothers, Canuto Lozano and Richard Lozano; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Torres; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Memorials may be made to the Crowell Booster Club or the Foard County Senior Citizens.
