Obituary

Ila Mae Bullion, 94, of Lubbock passed away Monday, April 5, 2021. A funeral service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Crowell, with Rev. Sean Summers officiating. Interment will follow at Truscott Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday evening, at the funeral home.

Ila Mae Summers was born December 10, 1926 in Talpa, Texas to Jesse Alvin and Pearl Sparks Summers. She graduated from Talpa High School as Valedictorian in 1944, and went on to attend North Texas State University. She and Joe Paul Bullion were married on June 8, 1949 in San Angelo, Texas and together they raised two children. Ila was a retired postmaster. She was a former resident of Truscott and member of Truscott Methodist Church. She was a member of DAR, Daughters of Republic of Texas, Jamestown Society, Colonial Dames, and Ancient Planters.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail Whitley of Lubbock; her son, Murry A. Bullion of Orlando, Florida; 2 sisters, Nadine Nibling of San Angelo, and Lou Ann Hedden of Wall, Texas; 1 brother, John Douglas Summers of Austin, Texas; 6 grandchildren: Crystal Zant, Joshua DeBeer, Jenifer Christensen, Matthew Bullion, Marek Bullion, and Carter Bullion; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild due in August.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Paul Bullion, on December 22, 1998.
