George Michael (Mike) Clifton, 72, of Rotan, formerly of Crowell, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Funeral services will be in Crowell, Texas at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Ellis officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins at the Funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Crowell Cemetery.

Mike was born on February 22, 1952 in Crowell to the late George and Velmeta Meharg Clifton.  He graduated from Crowell High School in 1970 and was a graduate from West Texas State University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1972-1976 as a surgical nurse.  After returning from his service he started working for the USDA-NRCS from 1983 until his retirement in 2011.  He married Judy Rushing in Knox City on November 21, 1992. They moved to Rotan after marrying.  They loved to travel to the mountains and to see the fall foliage. They enjoyed seeing the changing of the colors of the trees year after year.  After the passing of his wife in 2010, he still continued to travel to the mountains every fall to enjoy recalling the memories and seeing the beautiful scenery.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Cynthia Carver, nephew, Ronny Wayne Clifton, Jr. and brother, Jerry Clifton.

He is survived by one brother Ronny W. Clifton and wife Kathy of Crowell; Son-in-Law Dennis Carver; three Grandchildren Jordan and (Tyler), Cyla, Ryan; two great granddaughters Gracie and Maycie, of Graford, Texas. One brother-in-law, Jimmy and wife Victoria Rushing of Houston; He is also survived by his nieces, Megan Clifton, Judy Brackett, Kim Gilbert, Tonya Hopper, Alexandra Rushing, and Madison Rushing Logan; Two nephews, Terry Clifton and James Rushing. Along with several great nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Crowell Cemetery or a charity of your choice in honor of Mike's memory
