Geneva Gidney passed away Wednesday evening, November 10, 2021 in Crowell.  A graveside service is planned for 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 16 ^th at the Crowell Cemetery. Rev. Lloyd Daniel and Mr. Craig Templeton will officiate. Visitation will be held before the service, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home in Crowell.

Geneva Irene Athey was born to the late Charlie Monroe Athey and Martha Valle Askins Athey on April 1, 1923 in Foard City, Texas. She married Robert Printiss Gidney on July 17, 1938 in Crowell. She was a lifetime resident of Foard County. While in school she was active in volleyball. Later in life, she enjoyed ceramics, gardening and yard work. Geneva was the secretary for Crowell Housing Authority; and was a member of Bethel Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Larue Templeton, and husband Lewis, of Vernon; a son, Charlie Mack Gidney of Vernon; 4 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Printiss Gidney on December 26, 1993; 1 son, Printiss Gidney on October 8, 2019; 2 brothers; and 6 sisters.
