Obituary

Freddy Matysek, 65, passed away Tuesday morning, January 11, 2022 in Wichita Falls. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13 th at Crowell Cemetery with Rev. Joe Ainsworth officiating.

Frederick Karl Matysek was born in Vernon, Texas on May 1 st , 1956 to the late Alfred C. Matysek and Theresa Schlebach Matysek.  He attended grade school at Lockett, and graduated from Crowell High School in 1974. Freddy then attended Rider Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas where he graduated with honors. After graduation, Freddy returned to Crowell and worked for Bud McClain Farm Equipment for a year before entering into a partnership with W.F. Statser. Freddy married his high school sweetheart, Karen Sue Statser, in 1976 and they made their home east of Crowell. Freddy farmed, ranched, and was a soil conservation constructor. Freddy was actively involved in serving the Crowell community and the citizens of Foard County. He served on the school board for 10 years and was an active volunteer fireman until 2016. He was honest, a walking history book of the land, and you could always depend on his word and his help. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen Sue Statser Matysek, one daughter, Annie Nicole Matysek Day, and her husband William Harold Day; and one granddaughter, Reagan Elizabeth Day.  Freddy is also survived by three siblings, Theresa Darlene Andrews, Steven Isidore Matysek, and Alfred Charles Matysek, Jr.

Memorials may be sent to the Crowell Fire Department or the Crowell Cemetery Association.
