Evelyn Joyce Mitchell, 91, of Highlands Ranch, CO passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 26, 2020.

Evelyn, the youngest of eleven children, was born January 23, 1929 in Crowell, TX to Alvin and Anna Barker.  She was the widow of John Frank Mitchell who passed away in July 2017.  She is survived by five children: Linda (Randy) Jaeggli of Greenville, SC; Anna (Jeff) Musgrave of Parker, CO; Tom (Nancy) Mitchell of Spring, TX; Max (Amy) Mitchell of Castle Pines, CO; Sam (Lisa) Mitchell of Lorton, VA; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

After Evelyn's marriage to John Mitchell on December 27, 1949 she became an administrative assistant in the office of Texas Attorney General Price Daniel to help John through college at the University of Texas.  Her life's work centered around her family and her church.  She had a happy 67-year marriage with John. Together they served as mentors and Sunday School teachers. For many years she taught the second-grade girls Sunday School class and assisted in the Bible Memory Association program, touching the lives of countless young children. Her home was always open to visiting preachers, missionaries, family and friends.  Her family remembers her as a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother and a person of contentment who was always a servant to others.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Crowell. Visitation hours from 9-10 a.m., Tuesday.
