Dorothy Hlavaty Klepper, age 96, formerly of Crowell, died Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in Waco, Texas.

Graveside services, with Rev. Terry Tamplen officiating, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Crowell Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service, at 1:00 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home in Crowell.

Mrs. Klepper was born August 17, 1927, in Crowell, daughter of the late WF (Bill) and Minnie Burtis Hlavaty. She married William Newton (Bill) Klepper on January 22, 1959, in Vernon, Texas. She was a graduate of Vernon High School and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She graduated from Texas Tech with a master's degree in education and became a teacher.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of U.M.W.

Survivors include two sons, John Klepper and wife Cathy of Waco, Texas and Dan Klepper of Lubbock, Texas; two grandchildren, William Klepper and Amy Bento, married to Joe Bento, all of Houston, Texas; one great grandson, Edward Joseph Bento IV (Bo), who resides in Houston as well; nephew, Dean Hofmann of Vernon, Texas; and niece, Kathy Thorp and husband Jahew Thorp of Throckmorton, Texas.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Bill, on April 30, 2006; and sister, Marie Hofmann, on November 17, 2021.

The family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Foard County Library, or the American Cancer Society.
