Don Ray "Buckwheat" Borchardt passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, at Crowell Cemetery, with Pastor Luke Morrison officiating. Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home.

Don was born on September 2, 1948, in Vernon, Texas, to Fred and Jackie (Shannon) Borchardt. He was a lifelong cowboy who loved checking on the cows and spending time outdoors. A devoted member of the First Christian Church, Don also had a passion for fishing and cherished time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by a son, Kerry "Moe" Borchardt and wife, Brooke, of Lubbock; a daughter, Shanna Gutierrez of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren: Jordan Lagunas, Brandy Ocon (and husband Eric), Paige Weatherby, Hagen Borchardt, Taylor Borchardt, Presley Lair, and Paxton Lair; five beloved great-grandchildren; s sister, Pam Eavenson of Crowell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Borchardt.

His love for family, faith, and the simple joys of country life will always be remembered
