Charlene Black, 87, of Crowell passed away Wednesday morning, October 14th at the Crowell Nursing Center. Interment will be in the Crowell Cemetery with a funeral service to be held at a later date.

Charlene Oleta Parker was born May 11, 1933 in Childress, Texas to Charlie and Maudie Parker.  She married George Black on September 20, 1952 in Vernon, Texas.  George preceded her in death on July 26, 2013. Charlene had been a resident of Crowell since 1998.  Prior to moving to Crowell, she worked for the Northeast Independent School District in San Antonio, as a cafeteria manager, for 30 years.

She is survived by two children.  A daughter, Gayle Stutts, of Crowell; and a son, Steve Black, of Lacombe, Louisiana; 4 grandchildren, Steve Black, David Black, Jeremy Black, and Andy Black.  She was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
