Billy Gene Whitley, 92, of Crowell, passed away Thursday evening, October 15, 2020 in Wichita Falls, Texas.  A funeral service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 21st at the First Baptist Church in Crowell.  Interment will follow at Crowell Cemetery.

Billy was born February 12, 1928 in Foard County to Oscar G. and Minnie Frances (Clifton) Whitley.  He grew up in Foard County and attended school at Crowell ISD.  He served his country in the US Army and the US Air Force during World War II. After his discharge, he lived in Amarillo from 1947 – 1969.  Billy married Jewell Arnn on December 5, 1947 in Amarillo. He worked for the Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force Civil Service, before moving back to Crowell in 1984.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crowell, as well as Crowell Masonic Lodge #840.

Survivors include 2 sons, Gary Whitley and wife Kathy of Crowell, and Billy Royce Whitley and wife Diane of Round Rock; 1 daughter, Brenda Turner and husband Tom of Cedar Park; 2 brothers, J.W. Whitley and Roy M. "Ace" Whitley of Crowell; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell; 3 brothers, Doyle, W.T. and Gaylon; and 2 sisters, Louise and Bobbie.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
