Alta Jane Williams, 71, of Crowell, TX, passed away on July 4, 2019. She was born to parents William Ross Query and Frances Maxine (Benskin) Query, on October 7, 1947 in Fort Scott, KS.
There will be a dinner and visitation, for family and friends, held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10th at the Crowell Community Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Crowell. Officiating will be Rev. Jack Smith, Rev. Mike Covington, and Rev. Caleb Crouch. Viewing will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Crowell Cemetery.
She graduated from Fort Scott Christian Heights in 1965. Alta met Ben G. Williams in the summer of 1969. They were married on February 18, 1972 in Phoenix, AZ. Together they raised 3 children: Benjamin Ross, Matthew Don, and Andrew Dale. Alta spent 17 years of her life homeschooling her boys and had no regrets. In 1982, they felt God leading them to move from Oklahoma to Arizona to minister to the Navajo people. Ben and Alta spent 34 years there in God's work, including work as directors of Montezuma Schools, a homeschooling network for Navajo families. Two years ago, they moved to Texas to enjoy their retirement years.
Alta is survived by her husband, Ben G. Williams; three sons - Ben R. Williams and wife Beth, of Marshfield, MO, Matt Williams and wife Denise, of Oklahoma City, OK, Andy Williams and wife Alex, of Duncan, OK; three brothers: Bill Query, Ron Query, Randy Query; and eight grandchildren: Rachele, Samantha, Lane, Brooklyn, Justin, Conner, Jeremiah, and Leandra Williams.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ross Query; mother, Frances Query; two brothers - Leonard Query and Phillip Query; and sister, Geraldine Bise.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montezuma Schools, Inc.
